Vice-president, project management, Independence Excavating
Douglas A Thomas obtained his Civil Engineering Degree at Ohio Northern University in 1996, and began his career with Independence Excavating, Inc and the DiGeronimo Companies as a project engineer in 2005.
He advanced into the role of project manager and senior project manager, and has successfully completed numerous high profile projects dotted across the USA. Doug now serves as vice president of project management and holds Professional Engineering Licenses in Ohio and West Virginia, but his passion remains in project management.
He also holds qualifying General Contractor Licenses on behalf of Independence Excavating in various states through the country.
The highlights of Doug’s career include large scale and industrial demolition as well as significant civil projects, most recently managing the SRP Navajo Generating Station decommissioning and demolition in Page, Arizona.
Doug’s demolition career also includes The City of Cleveland, Ohio Convention Centre and Medical Mart, the Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Florida, the UPMC Children’s Hospital Tower in downtown Pittsburgh, and DTE Conners Creek Power Plant in Detroit.
Other notable civil projects include constructing two Federal Correctional Institutes in West Virginia, the Cleveland Clinic Taussig Cancer Centre, and the Southern Beltway Turnpike in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
